Aberlour 12 Year Old Double Cask Matured is a single malt from the Aberlour distillery, founded in 1879 in the village of the same name, in Speyside, Scotland, and owned by Pernod Ricard since 1974. It is the entry point to the house's Double Cask range, which also has 14, 16 and 18 year old versions, and it won a gold medal at the 2024 International Spirits Challenge.
As the name says, it undergoes double maturation: part of the whisky ages in traditional oak casks and part in sherry butts, and the two batches are married after at least 12 years. According to the distillery, the wood rounds off the citrus character of the new make spirit. It is bottled at 40%, in a 70 cl bottle.
