Aberlour 14 Year Old Double Cask is a single malt from the Aberlour distillery, founded in 1879 in the village of the same name, in Speyside, Scotland, and owned by Pernod Ricard since 1974. The house uses water from the Birkenbush springs and barley from farms no more than 15 miles from the distillery, and keeps James Fleming's family motto, 'let the deed show'.
Like almost all the house's malts, it undergoes double maturation: it ages for at least 14 years in American oak casks and in sherry casks, and only then are the two batches married. The sherry casks are Spanish oak, seasoned to the distillery's specification with oloroso sherry. It is bottled at 40%.
