Absolut Citron is the lemon-flavored vodka from Absolut, a Swedish brand that has belonged to the French group Pernod Ricard since 2008. Launched in 1988, when flavored vodka was still a novelty, it is, according to the house itself, the brand's best-selling flavor and is associated with the creation of the Cosmopolitan cocktail. The name pays homage to the Swedish word for lemon.
Like all Absolut, it is made from winter wheat, distilled in a continuous process and bottled in the village of Åhus, in southern Sweden. It receives natural lemon flavor and, according to Pernod Ricard's electronic label, contains no sugar. The house suggests using it in the Cosmopolitan, with sparkling water and lemon or with lemonade.
