Amarguinha is a bitter almond liqueur from the Algarve, in southern Portugal, made from a traditional regional recipe. The brand is produced by Destilatum and distributed by Casa Redondo; besides the Original, listed here, there is a lemon version, launched in the summer of 2012, and a cream version.

The liqueur is made cold: the water and sugar are mixed, then the alcohol and the flavoring infusion are added, and finally the caramel; a period of maturation in oak casks follows. It is bottled at 20%, in a 700 ml bottle. The house recommends serving it well chilled, with two ice cubes and a slice of lemon, as it is drunk in the Algarve, or with dry tonic.
