Black & White
by Black & White · Whisky · Scotland
Black & White is a blended Scotch whisky launched in 1884 by the merchant James Buchanan, who sold it as The Buchanan Blend, in a dark bottle with a white label. Customers began asking for the 'black and white', and the nickname became a registered trademark in 1904.
The two terriers on the label, a black Scottie and a white Westie, came from an idea of Buchanan's in the 1890s. Today the brand belongs to Diageo.
According to Diageo's official store, the blend brings together 35 different malts, married with grain whiskies, with no age statement. It is sold only outside the United Kingdom, and Brazil is among its strongest markets. The house recommends drinking it on the rocks: 50 ml over ice in a tumbler.
