Bombay Sapphire
by Bombay Sapphire · Gin · United Kingdom
Bombay Sapphire is a London Dry Gin launched in 1987 and now owned by Bacardi. The recipe is based on a formula from 1761, and the gin is produced at the Laverstoke Mill distillery in Hampshire, England, a former mill converted to a design by designer Thomas Heatherwick.
It uses ten botanicals: juniper, lemon peel, coriander, orris root, almond, cassia, liquorice, angelica, cubeb and grains of paradise. Instead of being macerated, they sit in perforated copper baskets through which the vapor of the wheat spirit passes during distillation, a vapor infusion technique developed by the Dakin family in the 1830s.
