Bowmore 12 Year Old is a single malt from the Bowmore distillery, founded in 1779 in the village of the same name, on the island of Islay, Scotland, which presents itself on the label as 'the original Islay'. The brand belongs to Suntory Global Spirits. The 12 year old version is the benchmark for the house style and won gold medals at the 2024 World Whisky Awards and International Spirits Challenge.
It ages for 12 years in American oak casks that held bourbon and in European oak oloroso sherry casks, hand-selected and then married. The golden amber color comes from these two woods, according to the distillery. It is bottled at 40%, in a 700 ml bottle.
