Buchanan's Master
by Buchanan's · Whisky · Scotland
Buchanan's Master is a blended Scotch from Buchanan's, a brand created by James Buchanan, who according to Diageo, its current owner, began seeking a blend of his own in London in 1879; the house adopts 1884 as its founding year, engraved on the bottle. The brand presents itself as a whisky supplier to the British Parliament.
Master is a personal selection by master blender Keith Law which, according to the brand, brings together malts from every region of Scotland, at least one from each. It has no age statement, comes in at 40% in a 750 ml bottle and won a double gold medal at the 2014 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The house suggests serving it over ice or with sparkling water, garnished with mint leaves and rosemary.
