Bulleit Bourbon is the Kentucky straight bourbon from Bulleit, a brand owned by Diageo. According to the house's history, Augustus Bulleit made the first batch around 1830; his great-great-grandson Tom Bulleit revived the recipe in 1987, and the whiskey reached American shops in 1995. It passed through Seagram before going to Diageo.
The recipe has a lot of rye for a bourbon: 68% corn, 28% rye and 4% malted barley, with limestone-filtered Kentucky water and proprietary yeast strains. Today it is distilled at Bulleit's facilities in Shelbyville and Lebanon, Kentucky, and bottled at 45%. The brand suggests the Frontier Old Fashioned.
