Cachaça 51 is produced by Companhia Müller de Bebidas, founded in 1959 in Pirassununga (SP) by Guilherme Müller Filho. In the 1970s the brand adopted the slogan "Uma boa ideia" ("A good idea") and, in the 1990s, it took the lead in the market and began exporting, first to Japan.
According to Müller, the drink is a spirit distilled from the fermented must of sugarcane juice, with sugar and water, bottled at 39% alcohol. The company handles every stage from soil preparation and choice of cane to milling, fermentation, distillation and bottling, and also has a plant in Cabo de Santo Agostinho (PE). The producer suggests 51 neat, in drinks and in recipes.
