Chivas Regal 12 Anos is a blended Scotch whisky from Chivas Brothers, a company that traces its roots to a wine and spirits grocery opened in Aberdeen in 1801. Brothers James and John Chivas founded Chivas Brothers in 1857, and the first Chivas Regal, a blend with 25-year-old whisky, was created in 1909 by master blender Charles Howard. Since 2001 the company has belonged to the Pernod Ricard group.
The blend combines malt and grain whiskies matured for at least 12 years, with a predominance of Speyside malts. At the heart of the recipe is the single malt from the Strathisla distillery in Keith, founded in 1786 and bought in 1950, Chivas Brothers' first distillery.
