Cordero con Piel de Lobo Malbec
by Mosquita Muerta · Wine · Mendoza, Argentina
Cordero con Piel de Lobo Malbec is the Malbec in the Cordero con Piel de Lobo range from Mosquita Muerta Wines, in Mendoza, Argentina. The house was born in 2009 as a collection of blends from the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo and now has more than a thousand hectares of its own vineyards across four fincas; the range's name, lamb in wolf's clothing, plays on the idea that not everything is what it seems.
It is 100% Malbec from Luján de Cuyo and Perdriel. The harvest is early and carried out at different stages of ripeness; the wine ferments in concrete tanks, at low temperature and with yeasts from the vineyard itself, with moderate extraction. Then 30% of the lot matures for 4 to 6 months in wood.
