Bico Amarelo is the white vinho verde from Esporão, a Portuguese family company born in the Alentejo that later extended production to the Douro and the Vinhos Verdes region, where it owns Quinta do Ameal, in the Lima Valley. It was conceived to showcase the region's main grape varieties, and the label shows a bird with a yellow beak. It received 96 points at the 2024 International Wine Challenge, as the best white from Portugal.
It combines Loureiro, Alvarinho and Avesso, hand-picked. The whole bunches go into the pneumatic press, the must settles cold for 24 hours and ferments in stainless steel vats at 16 °C, where the wine rests with bâtonnage. It is bottled without added gas or sugar, with 11% alcohol; in Brazil, it is imported by Qualimpor.
