Gin Mare is a Mediterranean gin made in Vilanova i la Geltrú, a fishing town in Catalonia about 50 km from Barcelona. The distillery belongs to the Giró Ribot family, in the drinks trade since 1835, and the still in which the gin was born stands in an 18th-century chapel at the entrance of the house. The brand is now owned by Brown-Forman.
Its core botanicals are Arbequina olives, rosemary, basil and thyme, alongside juniper, coriander, green cardamom, orange and lemon. Each botanical is macerated and distilled separately, and the citrus peels macerate for about a year before going into the still; the base is neutral barley spirit. It is bottled at 42.7% alcohol in a 700 ml bottle.
