Alcohol-freeBrazil

Guaraná soft drink launched in 1921 by Companhia Antarctica Paulista, in São Paulo, under the name Guaraná Champagne Antarctica. The formula was created by Pedro Baptista de Andrade, whose team managed to reduce the fruit's natural bitterness before the launch. Today the brand belongs to Ambev, which produces and distributes the drink in Brazil.

The guaraná comes from Maués, in Amazonas, where since 1971 the company has kept Fazenda Santa Helena, dedicated to research into its cultivation, and it buys most of the fruit from family farmers in the region. The ingredient list includes carbonated water, sugar, guaraná extract, citric acid as acidulant, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate as preservatives, flavoring and caramel color IV.
