Havana Club Añejo 7 Años is the seven-year-old rum from Havana Club, a Cuban brand born in Cárdenas in 1934 and run since 1993 by a joint venture between Pernod Ricard and the state-owned Cuba Ron. It was created in the 1970s by Don José Navarro, whom the house calls the master of all master rum makers, and reached the world as the first aged Cuban rum designed to be drunk neat.
It is a blend of rums of various ages; the youngest spend seven years in casks that previously held bourbon, as part of the house's continuous aging, now overseen by master Asbel Morales at the San José distillery. The label carries the D.O.P.
Cuba designation of origin. The house suggests drinking it neat, over ice or in cocktails such as the rum Old Fashioned.
