Jim Beam Original
by Jim Beam · Whisky · Kentucky, USA
Jim Beam White Label, which the brand now calls Jim Beam Original, is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon made in Clermont, Kentucky. The Beam family dates its history to 1795, when Jacob Beam began selling corn whiskey under the name Old Jake Beam. After Prohibition, James B.
Beam rebuilt production, and the brand took the name Jim Beam in 1943. Since 2014 it has belonged to Suntory, now Suntory Global Spirits.
Like all bourbon, it has corn as its main grain and matures in new oak barrels charred on the inside. The brand states that it ages twice as long as required by law, which makes four years. Fermentation follows the sour mash method, with a yeast strain used since the end of Prohibition.
