Johnnie Walker Double Black
by Johnnie Walker · Whisky · Scotland
Johnnie Walker Double Black is a blended Scotch whisky from Johnnie Walker, a brand born in 1820 in John Walker's grocery store in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and now owned by Diageo. It was created by master blender Jim Beveridge using Black Label as a starting point, debuted in airport shops and entered general distribution in 2011.
The recipe uses a higher proportion of Islay whiskies than Black Label, together with whiskies from Scotland's west coast that age in casks charred on the inside. Diageo's official store in Brazil suggests enjoying it with a little water.
