Rarus is a single malt from Lamas Destilaria, a family business in Minas Gerais, Brazil. According to the house, the Lamas brothers began distilling whisky around 2010, at first with no commercial aim, and in 2019 the distillery became a company, bringing together the family's second and third generations. Rarus belongs to the brand's Double Cask line.
It is made only from malt spirit and demineralized drinking water. It matures first in American oak casks that held bourbon and finishes in American oak casks that previously aged Apraz rum.
It carries no age statement, has no added coloring and is not chill-filtered. It is bottled at 43% alcohol in a 720 ml bottle.
