Its history goes back to the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Leffe, near Dinant, founded in 1152, where the canons began brewing beer in 1240. Production was revived in 1952 by Abbot Nys and brewer Albert Lootvoet; today Leffe is brewed at the Stella Artois brewery in Leuven and reaches Brazil imported from Belgium.
It is a top-fermented Belgian Blond Ale. According to Ambev, the label lists water, barley malt, maize, barley, sugar and hops. The ABV stated by Leffe is 6.6%, and the brand recommends serving it at 5 °C.
