Licor 43 Original
by Licor 43 · Liqueur · Cartagena, Spain
Licor 43 is a Spanish liqueur made in Cartagena by the Zamora family's company. It was created in 1946 by Diego Zamora with his siblings Ángel and Josefina and his brother-in-law Emilio Restoy.
The brand says it was inspired by Liqvor Mirabilis, a fruit and herb elixir of the region that the Romans are said to have found in Carthago Nova, today's Cartagena, in 209 BC. The name comes from the 43 ingredients in the recipe.
The formula is secret; among the known components are citrus and other fruit juices, vanilla, herbs and spices, and the producer says the preparation depends on controlling time and temperature. Among the serves suggested by the brand are the Puro 43, the Carajillo 43, with espresso, and Licor 43 with lemon.
