Maker's Mark 46
by Maker's Mark · Whisky · Kentucky, USA
Maker's Mark 46 is the French oak-finished bourbon from Maker's Mark, a Kentucky house now owned by Suntory Global Spirits. The recipe is by Bill Samuels Jr., son of the founders Bill and Margie, and it was the distillery's first major new expression since the launch of the classic Maker's Mark in 1958.
The number comes from stave profile No. 46 of the Independent Stave Company.
The base is fully matured Maker's Mark, a wheated bourbon, at cask strength. After the traditional aging, ten seared French oak staves are placed inside the barrel, and the whisky finishes maturing in the house's limestone cellar. It is bottled at 47% (94 proof), and the brand suggests the 46 Manhattan.
