Miolo Seleção Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot is the two-variety red from the Seleção line of Vinícola Miolo. The Rio Grande do Sul company was born in the late 1980s, when the family decided to bottle its own wines, but its roots go back to Giuseppe Miolo, an Italian immigrant who arrived in Brazil in 1897 and began planting grapes in what is now the Vale dos Vinhedos. The grapes for this wine come from Miolo's own vineyards in the Campanha Meridional.
The must spends three days in cold maceration in stainless steel before fermenting between 25 °C and 28 °C. After spontaneous malolactic, about 10% of the wine ages for 12 months in American and French oak barrels and the rest stays in stainless steel. Miolo recommends serving it between 16 °C and 18 °C.
