Monkey Shoulder is a Scotch blended malt created in 2005 in Speyside by William Grant & Sons, a family company from Dufftown. The name recalls a shoulder injury that afflicted the maltmen who turned the barley by hand during malting; the three monkeys on the neck represent the three Speyside single malts that make up the recipe.

It is a blend of malts only, without grain whisky, matured in first-fill casks that previously held bourbon. The batches are small and, once combined, rest together for up to six months before bottling. The brand presents it as a base for cocktails such as the Ginger Monkey and the Old Fashioned.
