Montilla Carta Ouro is the golden version of Montilla rum, a brand launched in Brazil in 1957 and presented as the country's first rum; it now belongs to Pernod Ricard, which also sells the Carta Branca and Carta Cristal versions. The name honors the town of Montilla, in Andalusia, and the pirate on the label, drawn by the illustrator Benício, became the brand's symbol.

It is a blend of sugarcane and molasses spirits, aged and unaged, with sugar and caramel coloring, and takes on an amber color during aging in oak barrels, with no age statement. It comes in at 38%, in a 1-liter bottle, and the label says it is ideal for drinking neat.
