Nikka From The Barrel

Nikka From The Barrel is a Japanese blended whisky from Nikka, the company created by Masataka Taketsuru in 1934, the year his Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido was completed. The bottling was launched in 1985 by the house's blending team, with the idea of bottling the whisky just as the blenders taste it straight from the barrel, hence the name.
The recipe brings together more than a hundred malt and grain whiskies: mainly malts from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries and grain whisky made in a Coffey still. After blending, the batches go back into casks for a few months, a marrying stage that Nikka calls marrying. It is bottled at 51.4% alcohol in a small square bottle, a design the brand describes as a small block of whisky.
