Old Parr 12 Anos, sold in other countries as Grand Old Parr 12 Years, is a blended Scotch whisky now owned by Diageo. The brand was launched in 1909 by brothers James and Samuel Greenlees, blenders with houses in London and Glasgow. The name honors Thomas Parr, an Englishman said to have lived 152 years and died in 1635, and the label bears a portrait of him inspired by Rubens.
The blend uses malt and grain whiskies matured for at least 12 years and is built on the single malt from the Cragganmore distillery, in Speyside; Glendullan malt has also been part of the recipe since the Second World War. The bottle is square, of brown glass with a crackled texture. Diageo Brasil recommends serving it neat or with a little water, and also in cocktails.
