Roku Gin
by Suntory · Gin · Osaka, Japan
Roku Gin is the Japanese gin from Suntory, a house founded in 1899, and is made at the Osaka distillery the company calls the Liquor Atelier. Roku means "six" in Japanese, a reference to the six Japanese botanicals in the recipe, and the hexagonal bottle repeats the number. According to Suntory, it won best distilled gin at the 2025 International Spirits Challenge.
It combines six botanicals from Japan, each linked to a season of the year (sakura flower and leaf, sencha and gyokuro teas, sansho pepper and yuzu peel), with eight traditional gin botanicals. Each botanical goes through one of four distillation methods, in different types of still. The house serves it in a gin and tonic with ginger.
