Royal Salute 21 Year Old The Signature Blend is the blended Scotch that opened the Royal Salute collection from Chivas Brothers, now part of Pernod Ricard. It was launched on 2 June 1953, the day of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, and the name refers to the 21-gun salute fired on royal occasions; that is why all the brand's whiskies are at least 21 years old.
It is a blend of Scotch whiskies aged for at least 21 years, assembled and bottled at the Strathisla distillery, in Speyside. The house states that the recipe has remained the same since 1953. It comes in a sapphire-blue flagon that recalls the stones of the Crown Jewels, and the brand proposes cocktails such as The Mayfair, a sour, and The Kensington, a version of the Whisky Collins.
