Cachaça Salinas Tradicional
by Salinas · Cachaça · Salinas, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Salinas Tradicional is the standard label from Cachaça Salinas, the Medrado family's house in the town of Salinas, in the north of Minas Gerais, a region with an INPI Geographical Indication since 2012. The brand grew out of Heleno Medrado's emporium, which sold cheeses, sweets and the cachaça of his home region in Belo Horizonte; the label bears the date 1986, and the family is now in its third generation.
It is distilled in copper alembic stills, with the heads, heart and tails separated, from cane harvested between May and November. It then rests for three years in bálsamo wood vats before being bottled. The house suggests serving it with snacks, broths and seafood dishes.
