Salton Intenso Merlot

Salton Intenso Merlot is a dry red fine wine from Vinícola Salton, which produces in Bento Gonçalves (RS). It belongs to the Intenso line, of young varietals aimed at everyday drinking. The company was formally established in 1910 by the seven children of Venetian immigrant Antonio Domenico Salton and, in 2020, became the first Brazilian winery to reach 110 years.
It is made only with Merlot from the Campanha Gaúcha. The grapes are destemmed and go into stainless steel tanks, with pre-fermentation maceration, alcoholic fermentation with daily pump-overs and malolactic fermentation; aging takes place in stainless steel with French and American oak staves. Salton suggests serving it between 16 °C and 18 °C, with medium-aged cheeses, risottos or red meats.
