Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio is the white that made Santa Margherita famous, a house created in 1935 by Gaetano Marzotto on reclaimed land between Fossalta di Portogruaro and the Venetian lagoon. The name honors his wife, Margherita Lampertico Marzotto. It was the first company to vinify Pinot Grigio, a pink-skinned grape, as a white wine, which it has done since 1961.

The grapes come from the Valle dell'Adige, at 150 to 300 meters above sea level, and are harvested in the first half of September. After gentle pressing, with no contact between the must and the skins, fermentation lasts 10 to 15 days at 18 °C, and the wine stays in stainless steel tanks at 15–16 °C until bottling. The house recommends serving it at 10 °C to 12 °C, as an aperitif or with fish and seafood.
