Citrus soft drink from Schweppes, a brand born in 1783, when the German Johann Jacob Schweppe developed in Geneva a method for producing carbonated water on a commercial scale; in 1792 the company opened a factory in London. In Brazil, the brand belongs to The Coca-Cola Company and arrived in 1991 with the tonic.
The version with sugar, sold as Schweppes Citrus Original, contains carbonated water, sugar, concentrated apple, orange and grapefruit juices, citric acid as acidity regulator, natural flavoring, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate as preservatives and the artificial coloring tartrazine. The brand also sells Schweppes Citrus with less sugar, which contains the sweeteners sodium cyclamate and saccharin.
