Suntory Whisky Toki
by Suntory · Whisky · Japan
Suntory Whisky Toki is a Japanese blended whisky from the House of Suntory, now part of Suntory Global Spirits. It was announced in June 2016, first for the US market, under the supervision of master blender Shingo Torii, great-grandson of Suntory's founder, and developed by Shinji Fukuyo, the house's fourth chief blender. Toki means time in Japanese.
The blend combines whiskies from three Suntory distilleries in Japan: malts from Hakushu and Yamazaki and grain whisky from Chita, of the heavy grain type. Hakushu malt and Chita grain form the base of the recipe, and the Yamazaki malts come in a small proportion. Suntory recommends serving it as a highball: one measure of whisky in a glass with ice, three measures of chilled sparkling water and lemon peel.
