The Glenlivet 12 Anos is a single malt Scotch from The Glenlivet distillery, in Speyside, near Ballindalloch. The house was founded in 1824 by George Smith, who that year obtained the first legal distilling licence in the parish of Glenlivet; today it belongs to Chivas Brothers, of the Pernod Ricard group.
It ages for at least 12 years in two types of oak: first in traditional European oak casks, then in American oak casks, hence the Double Oak inscription on the label. Mineral water from Josie's Well is used in the mashing and fermentation. The brand recommends serving it neat or in cocktails such as the Whisky Sour and the Old Fashioned.
