The Macallan 12 Anos Double Cask is a single malt Scotch whisky from The Macallan distillery in Speyside, which belongs to the Scottish group Edrington. The distillery stands on the Easter Elchies estate, near Craigellachie, where Alexander Reid obtained a licence to distil in 1824. In 2018 the company opened a new distillery there, with 36 stills.
As the name indicates, this bottling combines whiskies from two types of cask, both seasoned with sherry in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain: American oak and European oak. All the whiskies in the recipe mature for at least 12 years before being brought together and bottled.
