The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old is a single malt from The Macallan distillery, founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid at Easter Elchies, near Craigellachie, in Scotland's Speyside. Originally, the house aged its whiskies only in sherry casks brought from Jerez de la Frontera; the Sherry Oak range continues this tradition, and the 12 year old is its most widely distributed label. The distillery belongs to the Edrington group.
The whisky spends at least 12 years exclusively in oak casks seasoned with sherry in Jerez, Spain, selected one by one. The color comes solely from the wood, with no coloring, and it is bottled at 40%, in a 700 ml bottle.
