Villa Antinori Toscana Rosso
by Marchesi Antinori · Wine · Tuscany, Italy
Villa Antinori is the red that Marchese Niccolò Antinori, father of Piero Antinori, created in 1928 as the signature wine of the family, which has been in wine since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine winemakers' guild. The name and the engraving on the label honor the Villa del Cigliano, in San Casciano Val di Pesa, owned by the family since 1546.
Born as a Chianti Classico, it is now released as a Toscana IGT, with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah from the family's estates. The grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel, stay on the skins for 8 to 12 days and, after malolactic, the wine matures in French and Hungarian oak barrels; the 2023 vintage was bottled from July 2025 onwards.
