Whispering Angel
by Château d'Esclans · Wine · Provence, France
Whispering Angel is the Côtes de Provence rosé from Château d'Esclans, an estate in the Esclans Valley, in Provence, in the south of France. Sacha Lichine, who grew up among his family's Bordeaux estates, bought the château in 2006; at the end of 2019 the LVMH group formed a strategic alliance with him, and today the house works with Moët Hennessy.
It is made with Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle (Vermentino) and Syrah from vineyards in the Esclans Valley and surrounding area. Harvesting is done at night, the grapes undergo optical sorting and closed-circuit pressing, and the wine ferments and ages in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with bâtonnage twice a week. The producer recommends serving it between 8 and 12 °C.
