Wild Turkey 101 is the Kentucky straight bourbon from Wild Turkey bottled at 101 proof, which gives the label its name. It is made at the brand's distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, now owned by the Campari Group. According to the story told on Wikipedia, the name came about after an Austin Nichols executive took samples on a wild turkey hunt in 1940; the company began bottling the brand in 1942.
The mash bill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, with limestone-filtered Kentucky River water and the same proprietary yeast for more than 60 years. It ages for 6 to 8 years in American white oak barrels with a No.
4 char, the deepest. The brand recommends the Old Fashioned.
