The Mondial de la Bière, a craft beer festival that bills itself as the largest in Latin America, was postponed nine days before opening. The 2026 edition was scheduled from October 29 to November 1 at Píer Mauá, in Rio de Janeiro, and has moved to the first half of 2027, with no date set yet. The announcement was made on Tuesday, October 20. According to Guia da Cerveja and Diário do Rio, the organizers attributed the postponement to operational complications, without saying which. The Mondial Summit, a business meeting for industry professionals that was to open the first day, was also postponed.
According to Guia da Cerveja, it is the second time this year the date has changed: the event was originally planned for September. A separate statement attributed the decision to the festival's new management, which took over recently. Thiago Coelho, a partner in the investor group that took charge of the Brazilian edition this year, spoke for the organizers.
We regret the postponement and its impact on the public and our partners.Thiago Coelho, partner at Mondial de la Bière, to Guia da Cerveja
Breweries were notified on Tuesday afternoon and, according to the organizers, will learn the new date before the public. For 2026, about 250 breweries and more than 1,500 labels were expected, many made for the occasion, in two warehouses at Píer Mauá, half the space used before. The 2025 edition drew about 40,000 visitors and generated R$ 35 million for Rio's economy, according to Guia da Cerveja. The lineup included shows by Sandra Sá, Arlindinho and Serjão Loroza.
Ticket holders have two options. The first is to keep it for 2027 and automatically get another one of the same category at no cost: one becomes two, two become four. The second is to request a refund of the amount paid, including fees, starting Wednesday, October 21, through the website of Ingresse, the platform that sold the tickets. The note does not say how long refund requests will be accepted.
The postponement hit producers who had been preparing for months, Diário do Rio reported. Councilman Flávio Valle sent Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere a proposal for a craft beer festival on Rua da Carioca, closed to traffic on October 31 and November 1 and 2, so that breweries from the state can exhibit and sell their products.
This represents a huge loss for many brewers, for many breweries here in our state of Rio de JaneiroFlávio Valle, councilman, to Diário do Rio
One of the confirmed attractions, brewer Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery, is keeping his trip to Brazil, with a tasting in Curitiba on October 27, according to Guia da Cerveja.
