Antarctica Pilsen is the standard pale beer of the Antarctica brand, now owned by Ambev. The brand began in 1885 in the Água Branca district of São Paulo, as an ice factory that soon began making beer. From it came Companhia Antarctica Paulista, which in 1999 merged with Brahma to form Ambev.
Ambev classifies it in the American Lager style, bottom-fermented, and brews it in Brazil with water, malt, maize (an unmalted grain) and hops. The ABV stated by the manufacturer is 4.9%, and the beer is sold in cans and bottles from 269 ml to 1 liter.
