Scottish distillery Glenfiddich, owned by William Grant & Sons, has placed a full-size replica of an Aston Martin Formula One car inside a bottle 15 meters long on the concourse of King's Cross station in London. The installation stands from Thursday, October 22, to Saturday, October 24, and marks the UK launch of the second whisky made in partnership with the team, The Spirits Business and Drinks Intel reported.
The brand has sponsored Aston Martin in Formula One since November 2024. According to The Spirits Business, the agency Dentsu X spent about six months developing the idea and 650 hours building the piece. Passersby at the station can taste the whisky every day from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and drams are also served at the nearby Booking Office 1869 bar.
The full name is Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One Team 16-Year-Old Limited Edition Release No.2. It is a 16-year-old whisky, bottled at 43% alcohol, that passed through five types of cask: first-fill bourbon, Port, oloroso sherry, wine and fino sherry. According to the released description, it has notes of stewed fruit, marzipan, leather, buttery toffee and oak tannin. The suggested price is £75 (about $100) for the 700 ml bottle, at British retailers such as Selfridges.
Glenfiddich malt master Brian Kinsman compared the work of assembling the whisky to the hundreds of small decisions behind a racing car. Adrian Newey, Aston Martin's managing technical partner, said what surprised him most was the balance between artistry and engineering.
The partnership has already produced a 65-year-old single malt, distilled in 1959, and a 19-year-old for airport stores, The Spirits Business notes. The activation comes in a difficult year for the brand's owner: in its 2025 results, released in late September, William Grant reported a decline of nearly 4% in sales and cited external pressures in several of its key markets, according to Drinks Intel.
There is no announcement of the new edition going on sale in Brazil. Here, the distillery appears in Bebidário's catalog with Glenfiddich 12 Year Old and Glenfiddich 15 Year Old.
