Rémy Cointreau, owner of Rémy Martin cognac and Cointreau liqueur, sold €510.9 million in the first half of its fiscal year, from April to September 2026. Sales rose 2.9% on an organic basis, excluding currency effects, and 4.4% in euros. The figures were released on Wednesday, October 28, in Paris. In the second quarter alone, from July to September, sales rose 4.2%.
The cognac division posted €338.7 million in sales, up 10.3% organically in the half and 12.4% in the second quarter. According to the company, growth came from Asia, especially China, where shipments were brought forward ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and from the rest of the continent, led by Rémy Martin XO and VSOP. Latin America also performed well with the two labels. In the United States, sales fell because of a high basis of comparison and changes in distribution.
The liqueurs and spirits division, which includes Cointreau, The Botanist gin and Mount Gay rum, sold €169.7 million, down 7% organically. The company attributes the decline to destocking by US distributors after the same distribution changes; sales from wholesalers to retailers, the group says, kept rising, supported by the three brands. In Europe, heavy promotional activity and weak demand weighed on results.
By region, the Americas fell 5.5%, Asia-Pacific rose 14.3% and the Europe, Middle East and Africa region slipped 2.2%, with a strong showing in Africa and an improvement in the UK, according to The Spirits Business.
Rémy Cointreau now expects tariffs to cost about €5 million in operating profit for the year, versus around €20 million previously forecast. The impact in the US has fallen to zero, following the cut in US tariffs on imports from the European Union from 15% to 10% and €6.4 million in refunds; in China it remains at about €5 million. The group kept its targets for the year, which include a return to sustainable sales growth, and will present its full half-year results on November 25.
Bebidário's catalog includes Cointreau, Cointreau Noir, made with Rémy Martin cognac, and The Botanist Islay Dry Gin.
